Your local Labour Party

Bishop Auckland

The Bishop Auckland Constituency Labour Party covers western County Durham, including Bishop Auckland, Barnard Castle, Shildon, Crook and the rural areas of Teesdale and Weardale. Our communities have been shaped by mining, railways, farming and market towns, creating strong traditions of working people standing together.

While heavy industry has declined, Labour values remain strong, and the party won back the seat in 2024. Today, most jobs are in manufacturing, public services, retail, care, agriculture and tourism, though wages and opportunities still lag behind the national average despite new regeneration and heritage investment.

Bishop Auckland CLP stands for fairness, opportunity and security for working people, strong public services, and communities having a real say in their future. Our focus is on secure work, good local services and ensuring regeneration benefits local people.

Labour Listens. Take the survey

We are out visiting different parts of the constituency almost every week of the year listening to residents views and concerns

We listen because the best campaigns are built on real experiences, not assumptions. Listening helps us understand what really matters to people, how national issues affect them locally, and what they want to see change. It strengthens our message, improves our priorities, and ensures we are campaigning with communities, not just at them. It also helps us spot concerns early and respond in a way that feels relevant and credible.
